A Saturday Well Spent

I’m writing this on a Sunday morning, and yesterday (Saturday) was a good day. I spent most of the morning with my 6-month-old daughter. We started hanging out that morning when my wife left the house to go on a long walk and run errands. The morning started with us lying in bed for a while. My wife and I had a late night of live music, so was in no rush to spring out of bed. My daughter is super cuddly at her young age, so she didn’t mind Daddy being lazy.

When I eventually got to moving, we walked to a nearby coffee shop so I could use the sunshine to wake up before taking in my first cup of Joe. After the walk, I made food, and we ate breakfast. We then played for a while on the floor, and then she went down for a nap. While she napped, I read and journaled on the balcony, and took a yoga class through Peloton.

When my wife returned and my daughter woke up, I went on a long walk and chatted with my parents on the phone, and then listened to a podcast.

When my daughter went down for a second nap, my wife and I watched an episode of Succession, and then I went to a nearby Vietnamese bakery and picked up a couple of Bahn mi sandwiches for an early dinner.

After dinner, the whole family went to visit with friends in their back yard, while we ate snacks and caught up on what was happening in each other’s lives. After that, we headed home and started winding down for the night.

It was a day filled with plenty of time with family, self-care, and catching up with friends. It’s how I would like to spend most Saturdays. No rush to be anywhere. Just nice, easy, and relaxing.
