A Quick Lesson About Listening To Your Body

I am proud of myself for doing something today that was outside of the norm. Instead of being so attached to my routine of reading and writing in the mornings, I listened to my body and went for a walk in my neighborhood. Choosing to walk took a little bit of time away from my reading and writing, but it also improved my mood and provided time for reflection.

It’s easy to become attached to what we think we should be doing. Sometimes we have to switch things up and do what’s best for us in that moment. My choosing to walk didn’t mean that I wasn’t going to read and write. It just meant that I would get to those activities later in the day.

There is value in having daily habits. My life seems to flow better when I follow them. But we can’t become so attached to our routine that we’re not open to new experiences. There are times when we have to do something different to grow. What works for us today, may not be ideal tomorrow.
