When was the first time you did something big, and outside of your comfort zone? When I think about my first time it was when I was thirteen years old. I was playing pewee football near my neighborhood at the time.
We were a team 12 and 13-year olds that for the most part, were on the small side. In pewee football many of the leagues have a weight limit. I think the limit for our league was 125 pounds. The average player on our team weighed around 90 pounds, which made us one of the smallest.
Our team was also made up of more 12-year olds than 13-year olds. Which meant that in addition to being small, we were also younger than many of the teams we played.
Of the handful of us older kids, a few of us were members of the previous year’s team that was winless, and only scored one touchdown all season.
Despite our size and lack of experience, we found ourselves undefeated at 4–0, and about to enter the toughest part of our schedule. Three of the four teams remaining on our schedule were undefeated, and beat us pretty easily in the previous season.
