One of the secrets I’ve found to help manage my emotions is journaling. I heard somewhere that journaling helps people to better navigate some of life’s greatest challenges.

We’re all going through difficult times with the global pandemic and all of the challenges it brings with it. Journaling can be a tool to help take some of the pressure off.

If you don’t have a writing practice, I hope you will consider it. It’s been helpful to me, and I think it will be helpful to you.

Each morning I sit down and write for three pages in my journal. I heard about this practice from others who have talked about Julia Cameron’s morning pages.

I’ve noticed that when I am consistent with this practice my mind is a lot clearer. I’m able to process the thoughts swirling around in my head, and work through whatever emotions that seem to be vying for my attention.

On the best days journaling helps me to gain clarity on where I need to focus my time and energy. It helps me understand my priorities so I can make a plan to execute on them.

This valuable morning practice takes around 10–15 minutes for me to complete. Sometime the words flow easily, and sometimes not so much.
